OK, I constantly have people ask me what my skincare regimen is. I am super embarrassed to say that up until 7 months ago, I really didn’t have one … for real!! Prior to that, my routine consisted of whatever soap I was currently using to wash my body, or sometimes even just plain old free hot water!!!! As far as scrubs go??? Well, let’s just say, “ No, I don’t want no scrubs, a scrub is a guy that can’t get no love from me!” No, really…I just never used a daily scrub, and as far as moisturizer goes, whatever body lotion was around was good enough for me! OK, so now we’re clear on what I meant when I said I had no real routine (or at least one I openly wanted to share with anyone).

This all changed about 2 months before my wedding. At that time, I literally became OBSESSED with making sure everything was picture perfect for my big day. I visited my dermatologist and told her my goal of having flawless skin for my wedding. She said there really wasn’t anything major she would recommend because I was already doing such a great job with my skin!! At this point, I obviously had not told her that sometimes my face gets washed with (insert drugstore body wash here). YIKES, right?!?!? My dermatologist said if I insisted, she would recommend a combo that may seem a little “high school” but was definitely going to take make sure my skin was looking nice, smooth, supple, and dewy which are my #SKINGOALS.

SO….let’s get into it!!!

The product(s):Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser & Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub

Let’s start with the cleanser. My skin is combination dry and oily, and this cleanser does an amazing job at balancing out both. It gets my face cleaned, and leaves it smelling nice and feeling fresh! It is gentle enough to use this twice a day, but make sure to follow up immediately with a face moisturizer as it can be a little on the drying side.

Switching gears, the counterpart of this cleanser is the foaming scrub. Now when I think of a scrub, for some reason it always takes me back to high school when I would beg my mom to buy me the St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub! Remember this???

Well anyway, that scrub was HARD CORE!! It basically felt like granulated sand paper, so it made me feel like it was really working. That said, on the flip side, the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit scrub is SO gentle, I would sometimes even forget this was supposed to be considered a scrub, and not just a regular cleanser!!! Anywho, my dermatologist told me ahead of time that even though it looks like just a few granulated beads throughout the formula that I was only to use it 2 maybe 3 times a week. Overusing a scrub (no matter what the consistency) can be very drying and cause irritation. That said, I use this one exactly as instructed, and I believe it does a great job at gently exfoliating my face by getting rid of those dead skin cells and showcasing my glow! With this one, also make sure to follow up immediately with a face moisturizer. If anyone knows of a good one, please let me know!

So would I recommend the cleanser and the scrub? Absofuckinglutely!!! If you are looking for an affordable, gentle cleansing routine, I think this is a great one to give a try! For the last 7 month’s I’ve been using this my skin looks more bright and clear than it ever has! Always remember, makeup is fun and can help you achieve so many wonderful looks, but nothing beats having nice and clear skin underneath, because hey… at some point, the makeup has to come off!!!
